before + after: a clients master bedroom

it has been a while since i posted a clients before + after on my blog.
(hint *hint --if you are a client of mine and i haven't seen the "after" pictures of your room, please send me some!)

alright, lets get down to business!

before:

what needed to stay:
*the bed
*the ceiling fan

what we wanted to change:
*the wall color
*change out the oversize chair for a smaller, more tailored one
*swap out the armoire for a lower dresser
*add storage for books somewhere in the room
*update the bench
*add some luxury with new silk drapes
*new nightstands
*add some color

here is a look at the design plan i created for this room:

and some of the pillow possibilities that we were deciding on for the bed and chair:

after:

the new white duvet cover is a nice backdrop to the new patterned blue pillows and fuchsia cut velvet lumbar.

new art in beach hues reminds my clients of one of their favorite spots! the beach, of course!
the new wall color is bleeker beige by benjamin moore...we wanted a neutral, soft color that was still warm but less gold than the previous wall color. bleeker beige was the perfect fit.

the new mirrored nightstands and mirrors give a double dose of femininity to the room. new white lamps are more simple and less frilly than the previous ones.

the new reading spot and long dresser open up this wall and allow for a personal arrangement of art. the banded silk drapes add a touch of elegance and add some texture. don't you love the way silk shimmers?

this original drawing of clasped hands was an etsy dream score. the wide mat and simple frame helps give the art some scale and presence.

a new space for books, pictures and art is the perfect solution for this once neglected wall.
